How Kambo is used and what it feels like
Kambo is applied in a ceremonial setting. The ceremony itself lasts about two hours, though the portion of the ceremony where the secretion is applied is fast and intense, lasting about 15-45 minutes.
Kambo is applied topically through the skin. To administer it, the topmost layer of skin is burned using a small hot stick, and this layer of skin is rubbed off. The burn is very shallow and does not cause bleeding. The Kambo is mixed with water and then applied to these small burns where it directly enters the lymphatic system. Once it enters the lymphatic system it courses through the entire body to find the trouble areas to work on.
The effects are typically felt immediately. Many people experience an increased heart rate along with feeling flushed or feverish especially in the upper body. Others may feel dizzy or mentally foggy. Sometimes there is tingling in the skin or trembling, there may even be some swelling around the lips and the face. The sensations vary from person to person. Almost always there will be nausea and purging. The most common method of purging is vomiting, however there are other ways that people purge such as diarrhea, shaking, laughing and crying.

Types of Treatments
Traditionally, Kambo is applied to the inner right ankle on women and the outer left arm for men, though specialized treatments are available for more experienced recipients in accordance with their intention and need. It is commonly used on chakras, acupuncture points and meridians, and generalized areas of pain.
The frequency of receiving Kambo varies person to person as well as the intended use. For example, some people develop an understanding of the medicine, how it works in their bodies and are able to determine when it is time for a ceremony based on their intuition and how they feel. However, there are some prescribed methods of administration, such as:

~ Traditional Kambo ceremony - Kambo is applied to traditional areas of the body (inner right leg for women and outer left arm for men). The amount of Kambo given is determined based on previous ceremonies and need of the client.

~ Meridian Kambo - This ceremony required an in depth initial consultation. Kambo will be applied to specific acupuncture points based on the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and allows the ceremony to be tailored to specific client needs.
~ Kambo “Vaccine” – 3 ceremonies in one moon cycle (28 day course). This method is used to strongly boost the immune system.
